Nokia pulls plug on N-Gage
Nokia has announced that its gaming platform, N-Gage will be absorbed into the Ovi platform from September 2010.
The service was launched in 2003 and after several changes in strategy relaunched in 2008 with a number of high profile partners including gaming publisher EA.
No new games will be published on the platform and the handset manufacturer will be focussing on Ovi in the future.
On the N-Gage blog, a post said: ‘N-Gage games can be purchased until the end of September 2010. While the N-Gage.com site together with the N-Gage Arena and other community features will remain in operation throughout 2010, the Ovi Store will be the new central place for all the mobile games that Nokia and other publishers offer from this point forward. We will no longer publish new games for the N-Gage platform.’
