Christmas iPhone push for Carphone Warehouse
Carphone Warehouse CEO Andrew Harrison sent an email to staff last week encouraging a Christmas push on the iPhone.
The retailer will offer a free 30 minute setup session with its Geek Squad as part of the move, which was prompted by Apple adding Orange to its repertoire last week.
The email, seen by Mobile, said: ‘Colleagues, we now have the opportunity to introduce the iPhone to millions more customers as we begin selling the iPhone on the Orange network.
‘This news heralds a fantastic start to our Christmas trading period and is yet another sign that we’re realising our vision of creating a wireless world.’
Harrison said Carphone’s ability to give its customers a choice between Orange and O2 ‘is a credit to those individuals who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it happen, and is an important move for our company’.
He added: ‘We’ve already sold over one million iPhones and now we’re sharing our expertise by also giving away a free 30 minute setup with the Geek Squad.
‘Plus, not only are we able to give our customers more choice, we can also give them the widest accessory range in the market, thanks to our tie-in with Best Buy.’
Harrison also mentioned feedback from an Apple marketing rep, saying that the way Carphone had dressed its stores was ‘amazing theatre, which no one else has done’.
He said: ‘This is the first time we’ve done something like this and it reflects the significance of this deal.
I look forward to the nation finding an Orange and/or Apple at the bottom of their Christmas stocking, and to a bright future for The Carphone Warehouse.’
