Samsung launches smartphone platform Bada

Samsung has launched a new smartphone platform, called Bada.

Bada, which means Ocean in Korean, is a ‘feature-rich platform’ for consumers and a complete mobile ‘ecosystem’ through a developer support programme, said Samsung.

Dr Hosoo Lee, executive vice president and head of the Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics, said: ‘In creating Samsung bada, I believe that Samsung will become a true leader in the mobile industry; offering a wider range of smartphone choices for consumers.

‘At the same time, Samsung Bada presents a powerful opportunity for developers to get their applications onto an unprecedented number of Samsung devices across the world.’

Samsung also launched a developer’s competition and a number of ‘developer days’.

Bada development partners include Twitter, Blockbuster Video, Capcom, EA Mobile and Gameloft.
