MWC: Acer in fast lane with Ferrari deal and four new     devices

Acer has moved into fast lane, clinching a deal with Ferrari and launching a welter of new devices.

The manufacturer has clinched a three year sponsorship and licensing deal with Ferrari's Maranello team which sees the launch of the first Ferrari smartphone this month. The smartphone comes equipped with an Android 2.1 Eclair OS. More co-branded products are in the pipeline.

Acer has also launched two new Android and two new Windows Mobile devices and an upgraded Acer Liquid which comes with Android 2.1.

The two new Android devices are the Acer beTouch E110 and the Acer beTouch E400. The Windows devices are the Acer neoTouch P300 and Acer neoTouch P400.

The Acer beTouch E110 is a low cost compact phone aimed at first time users of the mobile internet. It comes with a 2.8 inch touchscreen, a 5 way navi key for easy access to all applications and a 3 megapixel camera. The device sports 'widgets' which are virtual shortcuts to favourite apps. It also comes with Acer's Spinlets - a free music streaming service. The E110 ticks the social networking box with access to Nemo, Facebook, Acer UrFooz and Twidroid.

The Acer beTouch E400 is a 12mm slimlinr phone which runs on Android 2.1 and has a Qualcomm 7227 600MHz processor. It features a 3.2 inch high definition touchscreen and a 3.2 megapixel camera and allows users to access social networking sites and stream high definition videos to YouTube.

The E400 also sports GPS enabled Google Maps complete with Latitude, Street View, Traffic and POI search. The device also packs a 3.5mm audio jack and access to Acer's music streaming Spinlets.

The beTouch E400 is preinstalled with Acer Sync, a smart application that allows automatic cloud-based and Wi-Fi synchronization with users' netbook, notebook or desktop which keeps contacts, calendars and files up to date. It also allows users to sinc their Google contacts and calendar.

The Acer neoTouch P300 is targeted at users wanting to use their phone in their personal and professional life. It features a 3.2" WQVGA touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard.

It has Windows Mobile 6.5.3 and large, clear backlit keys for easy use.The device features a dedicated YouTube app, access to social networking sites via Acer's connected contacts and access to Microsoft Exchange support and IM with Windows Live Messenger.

Acer's other Windows Mobile offering is the neoTouch 400 which comes with Qualcomm 7227 processor running at 600 MHz and Internet Explorer 6 Mobile with Flash support to give high quality browsing and media viewing. The Internet Explorer 6 Mobile allows users to switch between column and full screen formats, log in to secure sites, make purchases, fill out and submit forms online as effortlessly as on a PC. The device also features Bing, Microsoft's new search engine.

The device comes with Windows Media Player 10 allowing users to store music, video clips and pictures and comes with a dedicated YouTube application.

It features a 3.2 inch high-definition (HVGA) touch screen and 3.2-megapixel autofocus digital camera, complete with auto focus and geo-tagging capabilities, which allows pictures to be sent directly to contacts or shared on social networking sites.
