John Lewis has made its first major move into mobile after
announcing it will stock pay as you go 3 handsets and dongles, as well as the
network’s Mi-Fi device, from this Saturday (13 March)
The deal means 3 has become the first operator to have
its mobile broadband products ranged in John Lewis’ stores, with dongles and
Mi-Fi devices going into all 29 of the retailer’s outlets.
3’s mobile phones will be ranged in 22 of John Lewis’
stores, as well as online.
John Lewis currently stcoks a limited number of T-Mobile and Vodafone handsets.
John Lewis’ staff have also been specially trained to
demonstrate to the new 3 handsets, which range from touch screen mobiles to entry
3 sales director, Amanda Lambert, said: “We are
delighted that 3’s products are going on sale in John Lewis stores. 3 is all
about offering people innovative ways to stay in touch coupled with great value
prices – and we feel this is something that should appeal to John Lewis’
Simon Moore, head of consumer electronics at John
Lewis, added: ‘The new 3 products are great for our customers who have
increasingly mobile lifestyles and need to keep in touch on the go.’
