LG global account manager for T-Mobile, Jim Michel, has taken on former sales and marketing director John Barton’s role on an interim basis.
Former Motorola general manager Michel has taken on Barton's UK strategic responsibilities after an early departure for the indutry veteran. Michel's title is 'interim sales director', seeing the role drop its marketing remit.
It was previously thought that Barton would leave the Korean Manufacturer in April.
It is not known if Michel will take on the sales director job on a permanent basis, although industry sources said he would be ‘perfect’ for the role.
During a telephone conversation with Mobile, Michel confirmed he had taken on ‘some of’ Barton’s UK duties in addition to his current role, but would not confirm if he will be handed the job.
Michel left Motorola in 2008, amid broader problems for Motorola across all of its territories as it continued rack up losses.
