O2 head of consumer mobile Peter Rampling is leaving his UK role to take
on the position of O2 Germany marketing director.
Rampling, who will take on the new position on 1 May,
will report directly to René Schuster, O2 Germany’s chief executive.
Rampling has over 20 years experience in
telecommunications and marketing across the consumer and business markets.
After joining BT in 1986, he held a variety of roles
in consumer and business marketing before transferring to BT Cellnet in 2000,
where he played a key role in the launch and transition to O2.
Rampling has also been responsible for the consumer post pay and small business P&Ls and was joint acting UK marketing director
during Sally Cowdry’s recent maternity leave.
O2 said is currently looking internally and externally
for the best candidate to replace Peter as head of consumer mobile in the UK.
Schuster said: ‘By bringing Peter on board, we will
have a top marketeer with a wealth of experience supporting us with immediate
effect. He will be forging ahead with the positioning of the company as one of
the three major integrated telecommunications providers in Germany.’
Cowdry said: ‘Peter joined O2before its
launch and we will be very sad to see him go. Although Peter will be moving to Germany, we’ll still be working extremely
closely and we’re keen to continue to share ideas and learn from other markets
across Europe and the wider Telefónica footprint.’
