INQ launches in India

British manufacturer INQ has made its first foray into India with the launch of two of its handsets.

The move to start selling devices in the sub-continent will be the ninth market INQ has entered in under two years.

INQ has partnered with India’s seventh ranked operator, Aircel. It emerged today, that the operator will be bidding for 3G wireless spectrum.

The INQ Mini and Chat will be available from Thursday 18 March in over 1200 stores in India.

The manufacturer will be running a national TV campaign during the Indian Premier League to promote the launch.

INQ currently sells handsets in the UK, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, Australia, Denmark, Hong Kong and Australia with 3 and in Singapore with SingTel.

The manufacturer is confident that its social networking orientated handsets will be success in India, where Facebook users have reached eight million.

There is a growing trend for customers to sign up the social networking site through their handset and Inq believes it will be able to target that market.
