Palm is up for sale
Palm is putting itself up for sale, with bids for the company to start as early as this week, according to reports.
Palm, which makes the Pre and Pixi phones and develops WebOS software, is working with Goldman Sachs Group and Qatalyst Partners to find a buyer, according to Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Taiwan's Economic Daily News said that the world's No. 5 smartphone manufacturer HTC and China's Lenovo Group have opened discussions about an intent to buy Palm.
Palm has been criticised for its limited scale and distribution and weak brand outside the US.
However, the loss-making manufacturer has a valuable asset in its operating system, WebOS.
In the past, Dell, Microsoft, Nokia and Motorola have all been named as potential buyers for Palm.
Palm did not comment.
