Lebara Mobile launches new online portal
Lebara Mobile is pushing forward to reduce churn and create loyalty among its million-strong UK customer base with a new online portal.
The portal, launched at the start of April, is aimed at key customer segments identified by the ethnic MVNO.
It provides news content, ringtones, wallpaper and games for each of its customer segments available in five different languages.
Work on the portal, which will eventually launch in all of Lebara’s seven markets, started in autumn 2009.
Andrew Monnery, Lebara’s chief strategy officer, said: ‘We have paid special attention to our customers’ needs rather than delivering a generic UK portal.’
The company has also struck deals with news services AFP and Al-Jazeera, which will deliver their content through the portal.
The new service, which is inextricably linked to mobile internet, will be free to access through the Lebara network.
However, there will be a charge for links and downloadable content.
Lebara has decided not to embed mobile advertising in the near future, but will encourage customers to use mobile internet and download content.
Monnery said: ‘The portal is about delivering relevant services to all our customers both new and existing, and isn’t just about a younger audience. It’s designed to encourage more loyalty to the network.’
He added: ‘Our portal and its regional content is a key project for Lebara and is an important product diversification. We have built the services ready to roll out in our other global marketplaces.
‘It’s about how to bring compelling content to our audiences. Some of our customers have more than one provider.
By making data tariffs and content services available through Lebara now allows them to receive all the services they want from a single Sim.’
