ZTE to launch eight handsets in 2010
ZTE is taking the UK mobile market head on, with news that it will be shipping eight handsets before the end of the year.
The Chinese manufacturer, which is more recognised in this country as a supplier of dongles than handsets, hopes to sell in excess of 1.5 million units in the UK before the end of the 2010, cementing itself as a recognised mobile brand.
Two of the eight proposed handsets will be Google Android devices, the first of which is called the Racer. Running on Android 1.6, the Racer will arrive sometime in the coming months. It is a small device with a 2.8-inch QVGA touch-screen.
Although ZTE has a strong background in mobile phones, in the UK especially it has predominantly designed and manufactured phones for other brands. A good example of this is 3's Skypephone, made by ZTE.
