Lebara acquires Dutch company Chippie
Lebara has taken over the Dutch brand and customer base of Chippie, a company aimed specifically at migrant communities.

The company offers international mobile calling across Europe. Lebara recently expanded into France and Germany.

Chippie operates on the same network as Lebara in Holland and the MVNO claims that it will further strengthen its position in the market.

Lebara CEO, Yoganathan Ratheesan, said: 'It's been a very exciting year so far for Lebara and this acquisition further establishes us as the market leader in our segment. Lebara Mobile has been a strong performer in the Netherlands since its launch and given that over 20% of the Dutch population has international roots, we believe that there is a huge opportunity for us to continue to grow. We look forward to welcoming Chippies customers to our high quality service'.

Lebara launched in the Netherlands in 2004.
