Industry out in force for the Mobile Industry Awards

A renewed atmosphere of positivity and excitement was in the air at the industry’s big night of awards last Thursday (3 June), where CEOs of the major companies as well as the stars from the shop floor were celebrating in style.

Rufus Hound hosted the event at The Brewery in London, with many of the guests saying that the ceremony was the best yet.

The Mobile Industry Awards judging process is the most rigorous in the industry, with winners chosen from consumer and industry surveys, as well as high level judges from retailers, manufacturers, operators and analysts.

T-Mobile’s Samantha Jolliffe fought off fierce competition from Phones 4u’s Whitney Lindsay and Vodafone’s Clive Gray to be crowned Shop Idol champion in a tense finale.

Orange CEO Tom Alexander was recognised for his part in transforming the industry with the Orange/T-Mobile merger when he was named as the Mobile Power 50 Person of the Year.

Meanwhile, former Samsung Mobile VP and industry veteran Mark Mitchinson entered the Mobile hall of fame when he was rewarded for his years of service to the industry with the new Lifetime Achievement Award.
