Virgin exclusively partners Alcatel to offer dongles
Alcatel has signed an exclusive one year deal with Virgin Media to supply dongles for Virgin mobile broadband connections.
The deal will see Alcatel providing two modem models, the X080 and X220, to Virgin – offering different speeds of connectivity with both having 16GB of Micro SD capability.
The dongle deal builds on Alcatel’s previous success with Virgin as well as other retailers.
The manufacturer recently ran a promotion in conjunction with Carphone Warehouse, which resulted in the Alcatel OT-206 becoming the fastest selling prepaid handset in the history of the retailer.
Alcatel UK and Ireland country director, William Patterson, said: ‘Alcatel mobile phones has a long history with Virgin Media dating back to 1999, when we were one of their launch handsets, and we are extremely pleased and excited that we are able to build and develop this relationship with an exclusive partnership. The Alcatel X080 and X220 modems will be the first of a range of new products coming to Virgin Media customers over the coming year.’
Virgin director of mobile, Jonathan Kini, said: ‘Alcatel mobile phones is a strategic partner for Virgin Media, and a great fit for our new Mobile Broadband propositions. We are delighted to be working with Alcatel for these launches which will bring our customers the best possible options for speed and flexibility for broadband on the go.
