Giffgaff launches new marketing campaign
Giffgaff, the community MVNO, has marked the launch of a new marketing campaign by having actors in mankinis pose as businessmen and go swimming in Hyde Park lake.
The PR stunt was organized to attract customers frustrated with big corporations.
Giffgaff launched an advertising campaign at the beginning of June featuring ‘The Man’ who appears to be in control of the world.
Giffgaff says it prides itself on ‘being run by you’ and encourages customers to interact with its brand.
Customers are given points as a reward for promoting and becoming involved with the brand. The points can then be exchanged for free UK calls, texts, mobile internet, charitable donations or cash.
Giffgaff CEO, Mike Fairman, said: ‘People are getting more and more frustrated with the fact that many big corporations are out of touch with their customers, especially now we are living in such a connected world.
‘We wanted to recognize, in a humorous way, that there is an alternative to joining “The Man”. Giffgaff is a new and very different kind of mobile phone company that delivers a cost-effective way of doing mobile, with all the benefits of a contract and without being tied in.’
