Former RIM EMEA MD Chris Burke has been appointed to the role of chairman at navigation company Navmii.
In May last year, Mobile revealed that Burke had left his post at RIM after just five months.
Burke has held a number of roles in telecoms and technology. From 2001 to 2004, he was chief technology officer at Vodafone UK, where he was responsible for Vodafone's technology and product architecture.
Burke said: ‘Navmii has one of the most innovative business models in the mobile GPS and location-based services market. It is making navigation and location services affordable to any mobile user, whilst still providing a rock solid service and user experience. I look forward to working with Navmii to help develop new opportunities for the company.’

Navmii recently launched Navmii GPS Live – a fully functioning GPS navigation service for the iPhone. Navmii GPS Live is available for France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg at EUR3.99 per country.
