O2 extends pay-as-you-go rewards
O2 is extending its pay-as-you-go reward scheme to offer discounts on phones, events at the O2 venue or get high street vouchers.
O2 rewards, which has been running for several years, previously offered customers 10% of money spent back as credit.
The 10% offer still stands, but customers will also be able to earn high street vouchers for Argos, John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks & Spencers, Amazon, Boots, HMV and the iTunes store.
O2 will contact its customers once every three months to inform them of what they are entitled to.
O2 head of pay and go, Matthew Williamson, explained the changes on the O2 blog today (1 July).
Williamson said: ‘In O2 Pay & Go over the last few years we’ve run a program called O2 Rewards which offers customers 10% of the money you spend with us to as extra credit on your phone. O2 Rewards is our way of thanking you for being part of O2 and now we’ve launched a new version that offers you even more than before.’
The extra benefits take effect from 1 July and existing customers will have to opt-in to the programme. New customers to the network will also be able to take advantage of the new element of the scheme. However, they will only get 5% of their money back for the first six months and then 10% after that.
