O2 is recruiting to complete a 25-strong division as it officially launches O2 Health today.
The operator’s health team, lead by former GlaxoSmithKline sales director Keith Nurcombe, currently consists of 12 staff.
The new team is made up predominantly of sales and marketing people, who have come from healthcare, O2 business director Ben Dowd told Mobile.
O2 is aiming for patients to be ’put in control of their own health’ as part of its new vision for healthcare.
The UK has been identified as a focus area by O2 parent Telefonica.
Dowd said: ‘We are going to get a team on 25 – we have around 12 now. We will be fully staffed up in the next three months.’
He added: ‘One of the key differentiators of the team is we have are health experts.’
The operator has existing products and solutions as well as new solutions in the making. ‘It’s a big focus area,’ Dowd said: ‘We have launched Media, Financial and now Healthcare.'
Nurcombe added: ‘Some solutions are out there and we have new projects going to trial.’
O2 has Centre of Excellence partners that ‘will play with [the operator] in this environment’. Dowd added: ‘We also have Intel – who has innovative offers in the health space.’
The offering is currently b2b but has the potential to expand to b2c. ‘There will potentially be partnerships with people on the high street,’ Dowd said.
