Acer Stream launches exclusively with eXpansys

Acer has cut an exclusive deal with on-line retailer eXpansys to sell its Acer Stream Android smartphone.

This is Acer’s first venture into the high-end smartphone market. The new handset, which will retail for £399, is 11.2mm wide. It runs on Android 2.1 and boasts a 3.7inch AMOLED WVGA screen capable of displaying 1.67 million colours with a contrast ratio of 2000:1.

Powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, it also packs in 512MB of RAM, 2GB or memory as well as HSDPA 7.2, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options. The device’s camera comes with a 720p HD Video shooting skills, as well as a five megapixel still sensor, which can be output over mini-HDMI.

eXpansys' Adam Moss said: ‘Acer has sneaked up on the competition with this device. They have not particularly been on the radar for phone technology and now have produced a fantastic piece of kit.

'At the affordable price of £399 it is really great that we have secured the handset for our customers first.’
