Orange trademarks ‘Orange Cash’
Orange has trademarked the name ‘Orange Cash’ as part of its bid to expand in financial services.
The operator has trademarked the name under categories that include credit, cash and debit cards, payment and prepayment cards, credit card facilities and banking and financial services.
The move follows Orange’s deal with Barclaycard, announced in March 2009, to develop a range of co-branded products and services and eventually introduce contactless payments on a mobile.
In January this year, the pair launched a joint contactless credit card giving customers rewards each time they make a payment.
O2 launched O2 Money last year, with debit cards in partnership with NatWest that allow consumers to control their spending. Orange did not confirm Orange Cash would be its financial brand name.
