First Asda phone shop to open in Manchester next month
Asda’s first trial phone shop concession will open next month in its Manchester Eastlands store, the retailer has confirmed.
It will be the first of 150 mobile concessions planned within the next two years, if the proposition is successful. It will offer contracts and broadband packages as well as pay-as-you-go deals.
Last Week, Mobile exclusively revealed that Asda would launch its own phone shops to rival Tesco, after its deal with Orange ended last month. The Eastlands store is one of two sites where Orange and Asda had trialed concessions.
Asda will now range all of the operators and its MVNO Asda Mobile.
Mobiletoday.co.uk revealed today that Asda had inked a deal with Shebang to run the centres.
An Asda spokeswoman said: ‘Our first shop opens next month in Eastlands and will offer contracts and broadband packages alongside pay-as-you-go deals. If the trial is successful we'll look to roll out the format to other stores.’
