Fone Solutions faces winding up petition
Fone Solutions’ holding company has been issued with a winding up petition by Redress Financial Management.
The petition to wind up Look and Listen Ltd, which trades as Fone Solutions, will be heard at Newcastle County Court next week (9 August).
Fone Solutions was unavailable for comment as Mobile went to press.
Calls to its head office in Gateshead were met with a message stating that the offices are closed. Neighbouring businesses reported that Fone Solutions was in the process of moving offices to Cramlington.
The petition is the latest blow to the Gateshead based dealer. Last month it was dropped by Vodafone as a Yes Telecom strategic partner amid concerns about its financial viability.
The firm is thought to have been dropped by T-Mobile late last year.
Meanwhile, in 2008, O2 issued a ‘do not deal’ notice on Fone Solutions. The company is believed to be only connecting Orange at present.
In March this year Fone Solutions merged with the Liverpool based Corporate Mobiles and Base Communications to form Fone Solutions Telecoms Group.
Fone Solutions MD Nick Underwood-Lea, who has also worked at Carphone Warehouse and Fone Logisitics, is a major shareholder of the company, with a 49% holding.
At the time of the merger, Underwood-Lea said the new group’s plans included the acquisition of another company within six months, with more to follow.
Fone Solutions director Stephen Halligan had also said the company aimed to be the biggest Vodafone reseller.
The dealer’s Vodafone customers were distributed to Olive, Wish and Phonebox.
Orange did not comment at the time Mobile went to press.
