O2 starts offering BlackBerry on prepay
O2 has started to offer a range of BlackBerry products on pay-as-you-go for the first time.
Customers will be able to buy the new BlackBerry Pearl 3G for £249.99, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 for £149.99 and the BlackBerry Bold 9700 for £349.99 on prepay.
All the major networks apart from Vodafone and 3 now offer BlackBerry handsets on pay-as-you-go.
O2 is offering prepay customers inclusive BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and 500MB of data when they top up a minimum of £15 per month. If customers top up between £15 and £29 per month they will get 500 free text messages.
O2 head of consumer marketing Jonathan Earle said: ‘O2’s new Pay & Go tariffs for BlackBerry smartphones will bring all the benefits of BlackBerry to even more of our customers. With BBM being used more and more across the world, now anyone can share their PIN and get chatting.’
Pay monthly tariffs for BlackBerry handsets have also been refreshed. On a 24 month contract at £25 per month, customers will have 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500 MB of data.
Orange was the first operator to launch BlackBerry on pay-as-you-go. T-Mobile announced yesterday (4 August) that it would be the first operator to launch the BlackBerry Pearl 3G on pay-as-you-go.
O2 has an exclusive deal with BlackBerry on the Pearl 3G in purple and Phones 4u has the exclusive on the white variant.
