Palm Pre designer quits HP

Palm Pre designer Peter Skillman joins a growing list of senior executives to leave Palm following its take over by Hewlett Packard.

Skillman’s exit comes after HP chief Mark Hurd left the company following a scandal over expenses. Skillman was responsible for the design of the Palm Pre, which Palm hoped would challenge the dominance of the iPhone. However, despite positive reviews, the device suffered poor sales levels. Skillman was with Palm for 11 years.

Other senior managers that have left Palm recently include Mike Bell, former VP of product development, Matias Duarte, head of webOS design work, and webOS chief Michael Abbott.

HP bought Palm earlier this year and is expected to use the webOS platform to develop a portfolio of mobile phones and tablets.
