LG’s Michel to head up the UK

LG’s Michel to head up the UK
LG global account manager for T-Mobile, Jim Michel, has been promoted to director of the manufacturer’s mobile division.

Michel had previously taken on former sales director John Barton’s UK responsibilities on an interim basis.

The former Motorola general manager took on his new role earlier this month. Meanwhile, Barton’s previous role has been removed.

Michel left Motorola in 2008, amid broader problems for the manufacturer across all of its territories as it continued rack up losses.

In July, LG underwent a UK reorganisation, resulting in the departure of head of retail and distribution Steve Fraser and sales director for networks Christine Howard.

Fraser and Howard were the latest high profile UK figures to leave the business in recent months.

LG has lost a large portion of its senior management team over the last year, including former COO Ward Crawford and head of marketing
Jeremy Newing.

It is thought LG is posed to replace Newing, but Crawford’s post will not be filled.
