Vodafone to outsource customer management services

Vodafone is outsourcing its customer management services at Newbury to outsourcing giant Amdocs, according to telecoms union Prospect.

The move will see up to 40 Vodafone employees transferred to Amdocs, the union claims.

Prospect senior organizer Caroline Hemmington said a consultation process with Vodafone and Amdocs has begun to ensure members’ jobs are secure under the transfer.

She said: ‘Obviously we are concerned about the long term security of our members' jobs in this transfer and we will be doing our best to support our members at this difficult time.’

Amdocs will continue to run the customer management service from Vodafone’s Newbury headquarters.

This is the latest move in Vodafone's major cost cutting strategy which has also seen 600 staff at Vodafone's Warrington call centre transferred to HEROtsc in May this year.

Vodafone was unavailable for comment.
