Vodafone hunting for new chairman
Vodafone has started looking for a new chairman to replace Sir John Bond.
The operator is understood to have appointed a City recruitment expert to find a replacement for Bond, who has been in his position for five years.
Bond stepped into the key role in 2006 after the departure of Arun Sarin, who was responsible for expanding Vodafone into new territories.
However, investors at the time objected to Sarin’s strategy and Vittorio Colao was appointed as Sarin’s replacement.
Investors are still raising concerns about the performance of the company. At this year’s annual general meeting, Bond faced criticism from investors, with more than 6.5% opposing his re-election.
Bond was previously chairman of HSBC.
