Lycamobile launches on-net discounted calls service
Lycamobile has launched an on-net service which will allow customers in eight different markets to call each for the connection price only.
The new service, Lycamobile World, means customers will only pay the connection fee and talk for 30 minutes at no extra charge. Any calls that last longer will be charged at the standard rate per minute.
Lycamobile has six million customers worldwide and the service will be available in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Lycamobile is planning to launch the service in three more countries this year and more countries in 2011.
The new on-net service means that a UK customer calling one of the other markets will only pay 15p for a 30 minute call.
The MVNO is claiming that by opening up its network it has ‘effectively driven the cost of an international mobile call down to less than a national rate call.’
Lycamobile chief executive Milind Kangle said: ‘Lycamobile World is yet another milestone in our quest to reward customers with affordable international communications to stay in touch with their loved one across the world.
'Consistent with our vision of being the provider of choice for international communications, we will continue to invest in people, process and technology to deliver more valuable products and services to our customers. The Lycamobile World footprint will expand from eight to eleven markets this year, with more to follow in 2011.'
