Sundar Pichai - senior vice-president for Android, Chrome and Google Apps, Google
The man with a monstrously long business card and the man now responsible for continuing Android’s dominance as the global operating system of choice, after Android founder Andy Rubin exited to work on mysterious new Google projects. With responsibility for three of Google’s key projects, Pichai has joked that an extra project is adding four hours to the day just to get things done.
Android marked its fifth birthday in 2012 in a position of overwhelming dominance, with almost six out of every 10 smartphones running its OS. Its dominance is infuriating to manufacturers, who, Samsung aside, struggle to make much money from it. Ensuring they stay loyal to Android by innovating on a welter of features and a slick U/I means Pichai will need every minute of those extra four hours.
