Rob Orr - UK and Ireland MD, BlackBerry
The one-time smartphone king has a lot riding on its next generation OS. It could have gone all out in launching in the United States, a core market, but instead chose the UK in launching the touchscreen Z10. This one move sums up Orr’s influence and is highly impressive, considering he was only appointed UK head last summer.
Orr is an enthusiastic and tireless advocate of BlackBerry and his cheerleading is very much of the new generation BlackBerry, rather than the slightly secretive and spiky company of old. It managed to garner headlines the weekend of the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch by selling out of its own Q10 stock within hours of it going on sale in Selfridges. No mean feat.
