Price cuts continue to haunt the high street as prepay and contract prices plummet even in O2 stores. 3 tries to lure some short-term customers with six-month contracts and Carphone Warehouse has a £3 phone on offer.

3 Skypephone available on six-month contract


3 is offering six-month contracts on its Skypephone. The contract is £15 per month for 300 Mix&Match minutes or texts. The operator is also expanding its range of Samsung phones with the black version of the S7730, previously only available in pink. The INQ1 is still being pushed in store at £15 per month or £80 on prepay.

Motorola W180 available on Orange at Carphone for £3


Carphone is pushing its prepay handsets with a phone for £3. The Motorola W180 is £3 on Orange and must be purchased with a £10 top-up via a credit or debit card; however, a £20 top-up is required if purchasing with cash. The retailer is now offering the N96 on Orange at a cheaper price of £30 per month compared with the initial price of £35 per month on Orange and O2 contracts.

Contract and prepay price reductions at O2


O2 has cut its prepay and contract prices. The operator is now subsidising eight-megapixel phones - the Sony Ericsson C905 and the LG Renoir are now free on a £35-per-month, 18-month contract, which is cheaper than the iPhone. On prepay, O2 has reduced the Nokia 7610 and the Sony Ericsson W890i from £130 to £100. The operator is also offering free gifts on selected handset contracts. The Nokia 6300 comes with a free O2 V3 XA-06 Bluetooth Stereo headset worth £58.79.

Phones 4u pushes its cut-price prepay phones and offers cashback deals


Phones 4u is offering cut-price prepay phones. The Sony Ericsson W580i is being pushed with a discount of £30. The handset is £70 down from £100, and the retailer has the exclusive on a range of colours. Cashback deals and free gifts continue to tempt seasonal customers.

G1 Google phone is still a big focus at T-Mobile


T-Mobile has also dropped its prepay prices. The Samsung G600 has been reduced from £200 to £100, and the LG Shine is now £35 down from £70. The G1 Google phone is still the big focus in stores and is the cheapest high-end phone; it is free on £30-per-month contracts, which includes free Web’n’Walk.

Vodafone to introduce a prepay modem for £40


Vodafone is introducing a prepay modem in stores soon. It will cost £40 and will include £15 of preloaded credit, which equates to 1GB of data. The operator boasts that any data usage not used will not expire after 30 days.
