Job Description
 
This individual will be an experienced Oracle and Java developer with a track record of development team management and project leadership.
 
The individual will be expected to work alongside other members of a group IT services team providing development and support for two of the UK’s major IT & Software distributors. The holder of this role will be expected to manage and motivate a team of developers to meet demanding timelines as well as being a hands on developer. All development takes place within a development framework and follows a change control process; therefore the development team manager will be expected to have demonstrable experience of change control and software development methodologies.
 
Reporting into the Development & Delivery Manager this role will involve working with the business functional experts to understand the business and technical requirements for any given business need, develop a solution using the appropriate tools and support the testing and installation of the final deliverable. There will also be an element of technical support in the diagnosis and resolution of production system issues.
 
On joining the successful candidate will be expected to lead a systems integration project from inception to delivery. The systems integration project will entail utilising middleware to enable systems to communicate across several geographical locations and differing platforms in order to deliver a seamless business system.
 
Personal Skills:
 
The successful candidate will have strong team management and mentoring skills in order to ensure the development team is operating at full capacity. The role will involve liaising with both the functional experts and end users of the solution thus requiring the successful candidate to demonstrate good communication skills with both technical and non technical members of staff.
 
The successful candidate will be comfortable with working in an orderly and methodical style.  A large amount of the success of projects will be based around their own technical ability; an even larger part will revolve around the individual’s ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks.

Technical
 
Oracle 11i Apps
Java 5 Years
PL/SQL 5 Years
Modules (One or more) AR, AP,OM,WMS,GL,FA,INV,PUR,CRM                

Experience
 
Team Management: 3 Years
Technical Spec Writing: 3 Years
Unit & System testing: 3 Years
Knowledge of change control processes: 5 Years
Knowledge of software development methodologies: 5 Years          
 
Desirable Skills
 
Oracle Application Express
Oracle Forms
Oracle Reports
Any exposure to middleware e.g. Tibco, WebMethods, RabbitMQ
